24th World Gas Conference
Experts and top managers of the leading world oil and gas companies are participating in the 24th World Gas Conference (GGC) which opened on Monday in Argentina. The chief executive officers of the leading world companies in the gas industry will deliver 14 main reports at the conference. An exhibition was held simultaneously this week with the gas forum. The newest technologies and developments in the energy industry are presented at the exhibition.
This multidiscipline and multi-regional force played a key role in the promotion of knowledge, information exchange, and the preparation of concrete reference tools for decision-makers.
The result of their work, was presented this week was based on the following Strategic Guidelines established for the 2006 – 2009.
Triennial Work Programme:
• The Global Energy Challenge: Reviewing the Strategies for Natural Gas towards 2030
• Contribution of the Natural Gas Industry, in terms of Security of Supply, Safety and Environment
• Regional Gas Market Integration, as a Key Driver for Sustainable Economic Growth
The International Gas Union (IGU) holds the World Gas Conference once in three years. The WGC is the most important event of the global natural gas industry. Over 750 industry experts worldwide have been involved in contributing to all the studies and programmes undertaken at the conference. The IGU brings together gas associations and companies from 71 countries, which produce 95% of natural gas in the world. Russia is an IGU member-country since 1957. The IGU was established in 1931 to promote the development of the gas industry in the world.
This week, Energy Ministers from key gas-producing and gas-consuming countries will discuss the balance between supply and demand at World Gas Conference. The panel will took place on 7 October, allowing an opportunity to debate the latest views on both the supply and demand-side implications of energy interdependency, especially on how they relate to increase global energy security.
It is being organised by the International Gas Union under the banner: “The Global Energy Challenge: Reviewing the Strategies for Natural Gas.”
